I'm not one to trust David Pleat, but I remember him saying years ago -on commentary - that Wilshere "ran wrong". He's on the outside of his feet all the time, instep high. Hence: No surprise he has permanent ankle problems.
Just the way he RUNS is going to cause injuries. Too late to change, no matter his natural talent with a ball.
He's 27. Should be in his prime. But I fear he's done for good.
Fiasco of a signing. "Free"??? We've already paid £5m in wages for fuck all.

I also thought it was a risk worth taking at the time but heavily dependant on the contract.
If a straight forward 3 year deal then no fucking way.
If it's a rolling 3 year then not so bad.
Either way though, he's been disappointing even when he was fit so for me it's a failure.

Complete waste of space. Was quite blatantly looking for a crock's payday, and along come gullible WHU...
We took three players off them, and apart from a couple of decent cameos from Perez, we've had FA in return.
There's a lesson (still) to be learned here... if the top 4/5 PL sides are moving somebody on, 99% of the time there is a damn good reason why.
For every Zabaleta there are 20 'Wilsheres'...

Wilshere's appearances have disappointed me. He doesn't just seem slow in body, but slow in mind, too. Doesn't realise passes are on until it's too late, etc.

Between Jack and Carroll, t looks like 19 appearances in total between them this season. And not even full games.
Given their "wages", the club has paid HALF A MILLION POUNDS to each for every time these crocks get on a competitive pitch. then contribute little.
It's so "West Ham", it's not even funny anymore. Id rather get Jordan Hugill and Kouyate back. Seriously. DEPRESSING

I thought it was a risk worth taking. But I don't anymore. Your post sounds like what I was posting just before we signed him.
But the ship has sailed. The risk has not paid off. And with each passing season the PL gets faster and more powerful and Wilshere's body gets slower and weaker.
It's gone.

Personally I think it was a risk worth taking and still do, there is no way we could sign Wilshere at the top of his game, if we can repair him and get him back to that form then we have a world class player on our hands for free.
In the previous 2 seasons before joining us he played 29 and 38 games for Bournemouth and Arsenal.
A fit and on form midfield 3 of Wilshere, Lanzini and Rice would do me just lovely. They haven't appeared at all together yet.
